The NHS chief executive, Sir David Nicholson, has reiterated the importance of QIPP (Quality, Innovation, Productivity & Prevention) in a letter to health service bosses.

The letter sets out what leaders and their teams should be doing over the coming weeks following the coalition government’s ‘Liberating the NHS’ white paper.

He says providers and commissioners should strengthen their work to develop and implement QIPP plans and commissioners should link those plans to the development of GP consortia.
